Hello, I'm John Howe.
I have spent the last 41 years as Professor of Finance, the last 28 years at the University of Missouri – Columbia; I retired from Mizzou (as it is called) in May 2022. I have a Ph.D. from Purdue University and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (more details available on my résumé). My interest in behavioral economics was piqued when in 2002 Daniel Kahneman, a psychologist, won the Nobel Prize in economics. I have always been fascinated by both the quantitative (the numbers) and the qualitative (the story/feelings) and how there is not one without the other.
This website collects my work on behavioral economics. Most of it is aimed at someone who knows little about behavioral economics and is curious to know more. Much of it provides references to additional research in the area. Please let me know what you think or what questions you have by visiting my Contact Me page.
