My Credentials

I earned my undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Colorado College and my graduate degrees (M.S., Ph.D.) from Purdue University. I am a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and have served on the boards of directors of several for-profit companies (including two startups and a bank) and have non-profit board experience. I am a past member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

My research interests include banking, corporate governance, household finance, and behavioral economics. I have published extensively in the major journals in finance and accounting, and have more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have been a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge (U.K.) and Queensland University of Technology (Australia), and have taught courses for the banking group UBS (Switzerland).

 

I have won numerous teaching awards, including the William T. Kemper Fellow for Excellence in Teaching.
